Overview

Slay ("SlayDM", "we", "us") is an AI-powered shopping assistant available as an iOS app and through Instagram Direct Messages. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What We Collect

iOS App

• Email address — collected when you sign in with Apple or Google, used for account authentication
• Photos — selfie photos you upload for virtual try-on, processed by AI and stored on our servers to sync across your devices
• User ID — your account identifier, used for authentication and analytics
• Device ID — anonymous device identifier, used for analytics and try-on usage tracking
• Scan history — URLs you scan and product results, stored on our servers linked to your account for cross-device access
• Saved products — products you bookmark, stored on our servers linked to your account
• Try-on images — AI-generated try-on results and selfie photos, stored on our servers linked to your account for cross-device access
• Usage data — app interactions such as scans, product views, and try-on usage for improving the service
• Crash and performance data — technical diagnostics to fix bugs and improve stability
• URLs you share — Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube links you share to identify products
• Contacts (hashed) — if you choose to find friends, your contacts' email addresses are one-way hashed (SHA-256) on your device before being sent to our server. We never see or store plain-text contact information. Used solely to match you with friends already on Slay
• Friend connections — your friend list and friend request history
• Shared try-on looks — when you share a try-on with friends, the image, products, and reactions are visible to the people you share with
• Push notification token — to send you notifications about friend requests, shared looks, and scan completions
• Gender and age range (optional) — if you choose to share during onboarding, used to personalize virtual try-on results and product recommendations

Instagram DM Bot

• Instagram and TikTok URLs you send us (Reels, posts, carousels, TikTok videos)
• Basic profile info provided by ManyChat (name, subscriber ID)

We do not collect your social media passwords, private messages with other users, location data, financial information, or any content beyond what you directly share with us. Contact emails are only collected in hashed form if you opt in to friend discovery.

How We Use Your Data

• To authenticate your account and manage your subscription
• To analyze content you share and identify products using AI
• To generate virtual try-on images using your selfie and identified products
• To store and sync your scan history, saved products, and try-on images across your devices
• To deliver shopping links and product recommendations
• To track app usage and improve our service
• To enable social features: friend discovery, friend requests, sharing try-on looks, and reactions
• To send push notifications about friend requests, shared looks, and scan completions
• To monitor app stability and fix technical issues

Virtual Try-On & AI Data Processing

When you use the virtual try-on feature:

• What is sent: Your selfie photo and product descriptions are sent to Google's Gemini AI service to generate an image of you wearing the identified products.
• Who processes it: Google LLC processes your selfie through their Gemini API. Google's handling of this data is governed by their Gemini API Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
• Your consent: Before your first try-on, the app will ask for your explicit consent to send your selfie to Google's AI service. You can decline and still use all other features of the app.
• Data retention: Your selfie and the AI-generated try-on image are stored on our servers (Cloudflare, EU) linked to your account so you can access them across devices. Google does not retain your data after processing. You can delete individual try-on images or all your data at any time.

For product identification (scanning), images and video frames from social media content you share are also sent to Google Gemini for AI analysis. These do not contain your personal photos — only content from public social media posts.

Third-Party Services

We use third-party services in the following categories:

• Authentication — To securely manage sign-in with Apple and Google
• Subscription management — To process subscriptions via Apple's App Store
• AI processing (Google Gemini) — Images and video frames from content you share are sent to Google Gemini to identify products. Selfie photos are sent to Google Gemini to generate virtual try-on images. Google processes this data per their API Terms of Service.
• Analytics — To understand app usage and improve the service
• Error monitoring — To detect and fix bugs and crashes
• Cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) — Try-on images and selfie photos are stored on Cloudflare's servers in the EU. Cloudflare processes this data per their Privacy Policy.
• Affiliate links — To provide shopping links for identified products
• Messaging — To power Instagram DM interactions

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.

Subscriptions

Slay Pro subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information.

Data Retention

• Shopping results pages are retained for up to 30 days and then automatically deleted
• Scan history, saved products, and try-on images are stored on our servers and retained while your account is active
• Try-on images are also cached locally on your device for fast access
• Account data is retained while your account is active
• When you delete your account, all associated data (scans, saves, try-on images) is permanently deleted from our servers
• Analytics data is retained for up to 90 days

Data Tracking

We do not share your data with advertising networks, data brokers, or use it for targeted advertising. Analytics data is used solely to improve our service.

Your Rights

You can:

• Delete individual scan history entries, saved products, or try-on images at any time within the app
• Delete your account and all associated data (including all server-stored images) by contacting us
• Stop using the service at any time
• Request a copy of your data
• Opt out of push notifications in your device settings

Children's Privacy

Slay is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
